We propagate these beautiful Paeonia daurica subsp. mlokosewitchii from reliable seed in a controlled environment to ensure that they are not cross pollinated with other peonies which can so easily happen when the bees are busy. We grow them on for at least 5 years. When you buy Paeonia  from Twelve Nunns it guarantees you a strong, leafy and well rooted plant which will flower within a couple of years of planting. Once established and left undisturbed, the plants will produce these superb yellow flowers in abundance for years to come.

Paeonia daurica subsp. mlokosewitchii ‘Molly the Witch’ grows naturally in the light woodlands of the Caucasus Mountains and is therefore tolerant of light shade. However, in England, it seems to do well in almost full sun, although it prefers a moist, well-drained soil.

Their rich pink shoots emerge from the soil during the late winter. The soft, greyish-green, young leaves unfurl through March, and during April the buds appear. Often helped by the early warm May sun, their lemon yellow petals burst open, revealing golden anthers.  And that’s when the bees get excited! The large, fragrant blooms are perfect for attracting these important pollinators as the flowers grow up to 5 inches in diameter.
